I'm a self-confessed music addict. Once, I was even called a Music Snob (!), but that's another story for another day. I own a kajillion albums, and have been to a bajillion concerts. My first tape, purchased on holiday when I was 10, was ZZ Top's Eliminator, although I recall getting a '45 of the Oak Ridge Boys' Elvira from my Nana because the bass vocals cracked me up no end when I was about 5. When I bought my first CD player in high school, my first CD was Harry Connick, Jr.'s When Harry Met Sally soundtrack. Things have sure branched out from there...
Stuff I like? Oh geez, where to begin?... I like Guided By Voices A LOT. And Pavement. Pearl Jam. Rollins. Stones. Sloooooooo-aaaaannnnn!! Hip. Leonard Cohen. Carolyn and Neko (and Corn Sisters, too... that CD is amazing). Immaculate Machine. Hawksley. Rheostatics. Martin Tielli. Van Morrison. Willie, Johnny, Hank, Patsy and Emmy Lou. Bob Marley. Weakerthans. Neil Young. Pixies. Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Metallica. SLAYER! Tool. Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Buzzcocks, Pistols, Ramones, Fugazi. B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Muddy, the Wolf and Robert Johnson. Louis, Wynton and Miles. Ella, Billie and Sarah (Vaughan). Aretha, James Brown, and Otis. And really, anything Mint-related... And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Man, I could go on for days...
One day, I just might get off my ass and write a song of my own that's worth recording, but please don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen (we'd really hate to lose readers to asphyxiation). When the mood takes me, I can mangle guitar, drums and trumpet, though not all at once. You really don't want me to sing. Really. And I have played in bands but, let's be honest, it's so very rare that they last.
Um, I've lived in three provinces (so far) and have worked a ton of jobs. Currently I reside in Owen Sound, ON in a nice little house by the water with my gorgeous and amazing wife, two cute but rather needy cats, and two guitars that my wife calls 'The Other Women.'

My father bought me my first tape player. It came with my first tapes: a Mini-Pops collection, and the Best of Kenny Rogers. For the record, I did not request these specific tapes, but I did listen to a lot of Kenny Rogers. Mostly because even as a child, I could never once make it all the way through the Mini-Pops tape.
When I was in Grade 9 or so, my father bought me my first CD player and my first CDs: Tone Lōc's Loc'ed After Dark and the soundtrack to Days of Thunder. Again, I did not request these particular CDs, but I wound up listening to a lot of Tone Lōc. This may have indirectly resulted in me eventually becoming the fattest, nerdiest, whitest, most Canadian kid to ever wear a Public Enemy t-shirt to high school.
The Crash Test Dummies changed my life.
I like Hawksley Workman a lot. And the White Stripes. And Ben Folds and the Weakerthans. And Neko Case and the New Pornographers. And Danny Michel and Johnny Cash and Geoff Berner and the Arcade Fire. And R.E.M. and the Barenaked Ladies and Wolf Parade and Novillero and The Tragically Hip and Shout Out Out Out Out and Bob Dylan and Ford Pier and Carolyn Mark and Metric and Meat Loaf and Big Rude Jake and Wide Mouth Mason and Buck 65. And "Weird Al" Yankovic, of course.
I couldn't play an instrument if my life depended on it. (We won't talk about the tuba incident.)
I love Guitar Hero and Rock Band and Donkey Konga and Elite Beat Agents.
I'm currently stuck in Regina, Saskatchewan. I live in an apartment with a cardboard cat, a ghost fish, and a variety of electronics I've named after rappers.
